Can you do this?

Most grown men can not climb a rope like this.  Women and children typically have much less upper body strength than men, so we very infrequently see women or children able to climb.

My cousins came to visit last night and wanted to try the rope.  I figured they would get 2 handholds, get frustrated and give up.  Boy was I wrong!

So many people that come into the FIT Academy think that they are in great shape.  Most men are concerned with being able to move a lot of weight and think that if they can push a bar straight out from the chest that they are all set.  The problem is that most times they are not adept at handling the resistance that is most important:

YOUR OWN BODYWEIGHT

Time and time again big “strong” guys such as police officers, corrections officers and military personnel come in thinking that they will breeze right through the first workout and get humbled very quickly.  How much time do you spend pushing a weight straight out from your chest during everyday life?  Now think about how much time you spend moving your body through space.  Big difference.

Strength is important, but only if you can use if effectively.  Take it from these kids and learn to master moving the most important weight of all:  your own!
